Live Coverage of Profiles in History’s Hollywood Auction 40

Day two of the Profiles in History’s Hollywood Auction 40 gets underway today at 12:00 P.M. PDT, and although The Prop Blog won’t be there live and in person –not until tomorrow, at least- I will be covering a good portion of today’s auction live.

Day one saw the sale of many photos, autographs and other memorabilia, but it was lot #388 that stole the show. A piece of conceptual artwork for the entrance to Tomorrowland by Herbert Ryman sold for an impressive $30,000 (buyers premium not included).

The big ticket item scheduled to go under the hammer today is lot #832, a Marilyn Monroe-worn pink gown from the 1953 film “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.” The starting bid is set at $150,000, which is also the low estimate, with a high estimate set at $200,000.

Other potentially popular items include lot #805 – the Wicked Witch of the West’s hat from The Wizard of Oz, lot #889 – X-Wing Fighter filming miniature from Star Wars and lot #957 – Predator Animatronic Mask & Costume from Predator 2.

Keep in mind, you can bid on items using Live Auctioneers, Live Auctioneers Smartphone applications and via telephone/fax.
